this is the journal app, where your journal lives. it's a separate app from the solstone app: open it, and its first run gives your journal a place and marks it as yours. it needs an Apple silicon mac (M1 or newer) with macos 15 or later; Intel macs aren't supported. setting up a new mac? you'll want both, and both mac apps come in one download.

already have the journal app?
open the journal app and choose updates in its sidebar to check for an update.
to install this download manually, quit the journal app, open the downloaded disk image, replace the journal app in Applications, then reopen it. replacing the app keeps your journal and its selected location. your journal lives outside the app.
the journal is unavailable while the app restarts. once it opens, choose open your journal and check the version in its status details.
early days. on a mac, on windows and on your phone, solstone installs like any app. on linux, setup takes a step in the terminal. expect a few rough edges, and tell us when you find one.
